Learn about Rocktape
Rocktape is a revolutionary new type of therapeutic tape that is great for treating common sports injuries or enhancing performance.
Rocktape can be used to treat:
• Achilles tendonitis
• Plantar fasciitis
• Jumpers knee (PFS)
• ACL/MCL issues
• Rotator cuff
• Groin and hamstring pulls
• Lower back issues
• Shin splints
• Tennis and golf elbow
How it works
Rocktape is a natural-hybrid product and consists of 97% cotton, 3% nylon and uses no drugs. The adhesive is a hypo-allergenic acrylic based adhesive and contains no latex. When we manufacture Rocktape, we introduce a bias into the weave of the fabric so it stretches in one direction and not the other. This creates what we call a bio-mechanical lifting mechanism which lifts the skin away from the soft tissue. This allows blood to move into an injured area which accelerates healing and recovery.
Rocktape is also great for correcting tracking issues in knees, shoulders or elbows. It can also be used to correct posture problems including those associated with pregnancy.
Fascial Movement Taping
taping movement, not muscles
Explanation
Fascial Movement Taping (FMT) is the application of Rocktape to support sport-specific fascial chains.Using tape, we can better engage and coordinate an athlete’s movements to increase efficiency and reduce fatigue. Rocktape‘s unique properties reduce swelling, accelerate blood flow and help coordinate movement.
Performance enhancement
While we can’t turn a 5 hour marathoner into a 3 hour runner, we do have methods to help you break the 3 hour barrier if you’re already close. When applied properly, Rocktape can help athletes decrease fatigue through better blood flow and improved form. These are the two most critical aspects of increasing performance in almost any sport.
How it works
We use Rocktape’s ability to accelerate blood flow to help delay fatigue. This keeps the athlete fresher for a longer period of time. We also use Rocktape to promote proper form; we can use it to tape an athlete into a position so that when they become fatigued the tape helps them keep proper form for longer periods. We can use it to encourage proper form in running, swimming, cycling, diving or just about any sports that depends on accurate and specific movement.
Why form is important
As you can see from the graph, marathon times have dropped significantly since the early 1900s. Why? While there are many explanations, most agree that advances in training techniques have played a major role. Since most training revolves around conditioning and form, tools which correct or ingrain form play a big role in winning.
Swimming presents a good example of how critical form is. Often a win is determined by no more than 1/1000 of second. One misplaced or poorly timed stroke can make a huge difference.
Cycling Protocol
In cycling, form is critical to power and endurance. We tape the cyclist depending on the discipline; a proper TT position is critical but when the athlete fatigues, they can fall out of form. We use Rocktape to reinforce the proper aero position to eliminate drag.
In a road race, we tape the cyclist to eliminate lower back, wrist or neck fatigue which may develop after racing for 4+ hours. As the diagram below indicates, there are many ‘fascial’ chains that be protected with Rocktape.
