Training

Training Options

Until now, choices were limited if you wanted to learn how to use kinesiology tape.
They consisted of reading a book or attending an expensive class that was created to lock you into one way of applying tape.

We’ve developed two different taping clinics.

• Fascial Movement Taping – FMT
• Power Taping for Crossfit – PTC (more info on PCT can be found here)

These clinics are designed for different audiences.

• FMT clinics are designed for medical professionals interested in rehab applications and procedures.
• PTC clinics are designed for athletes who are interested in taping for performance and injury

Although the clinics differ in scope and purpose, we base our training on four key principals:

1. Research – we only promote what has been clinically proven. The insert-to-origin method is interesting but the science does not back it up. What has been proven is that kinesiology tape helps promote blood and lymphatic flow. We use this as the basis for almost all taping applications.

2. Open source – we don’t think we know it all and welcome input from everyone. You’ll find a variety of methods discussed and taught at our clinics.

3. Observation – we believe that if you take the time to watch someone move, you’ll see conditions which can be improved. We teach you how to use your eyes and brain as much as we teach you how to use your hands when applying tape.

4. Frame work – we can’t teach you everything so instead we give you a framework to asses and treat. This framework guides you in your observations and treatment plan so you’ll get more effective outcomes.

FMT clinic

what to expect

The FMT clinic is designed to address the most common applications and includes theory and applications for rehab, pregnancy, posture, edema and sports performance. The class is intended for therapists and practitioners with no or little exposure to taping. All class supplies are provided. You will be credentialed in FMT which is a commercially accredited certification. CEUs may be offered for both DC, MD, AT and PTs depending on location and class type.

Dr. Justin Brink

Dr. Brink entered into the chiropractic health care field after a personal experience he had with extreme low back pain. While playing waterpolo, he suffered a severe strain to his low back. After rest and trying to stretch it out, it did not resolve his pain or his condition and one of his students (teacher of 9th grade at the time) recommended Chiropractic. Within one treatment his low back pain had gone away. From that point, the thought of chiropractics started to creep into his head. Originally on the academic route towards becoming a Dentist, he was motivated by the power of the human body and the amazing level of healing the body can perform when allowed to do so without interference from outside sources. Dr. Brink completed his undergraduate studies at the California State University of Sacramento, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology. He then completed his doctoral studies at Palmer College of Chiropractic West. During his studies, he started working at S.C.O.R.E. under Dr. Ted Omura, (chiropractor for the UFC, Strikeforce, and MMA fighters, professional triathletes and Olympic medalists).

Dr. Dan Lent-Koop

Dan Lent-Koop is a 1996 graduate of the University of Southern California School of Physical Therapy and Biokinesiology. He has specialized in outpatient orthopedics and has managed, owned, and operated multidiscipline therapy facilities for 15 years. He received his Certification in Hand Therapy and the upper quarter in 2005 and is currently pursuing his clinical specialty in electrophysiology. He is the director of patient care at Orleans Park Rehabilitation in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. His special interests include running biomechaincs and efficient movement. A recent article of his will appear in Triathlete Magazine in August 2011. He is a competitive age group triathlete and is married with four children.
