Introducing IASTM Tools To Patients

When introducing instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) tools like RockBlades to a patient or client for the first time (especially with pediatric populations), it’s important to understand that it might be threatening at first sight. Additionally, touching a client with a cold piece of metal can alter the input of information via the skin and make for a poor outcome. Before using tools on a client for the first time, let them hold it, see it, touch it, feel it! Just like an animal smells to provide information to them, it’s the same for a human. See it, touch it, know it BEFORE it is placed on the skin to promote safe information to the skin first. This method will provide well-being to your client and aid in the patient outcomes.
