Carlos is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Certified Athletic Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist, and a Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Orthopedic Physical Therapy. He brings to RockTape, experience in providing rehabilitation, athletic training, and first responder services to all levels of adapted and able-bodied athletes and non-athletes. After receiving his doctorate in Physical Therapy, Dr. Roel completed a residency in Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) at the Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center in Vallejo, California.

During his training in the PNF residency, he worked with individuals suffering from neurologic and/or multi-trauma conditions. Years later he completed the Physical Therapy Fellowship in Movement and Performance, through Azusa Pacific University. There, he learned new advances in the clinical application of efficient movement, exercise science, and motor control.

Dr. Roel is currently on the medical support team and travels globally providing services for the US Soccer Federation’s Paralympic Team, USA Volleyball’s Beach Teams, USA Fencing, and Kreiswirth Sports Medicine/International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. His job is to provide physical rehabilitation and emergency response treatments (Example treatments: fractures, lacerations, dislocations, head injuries, musculoskeletal tissue injuries, cardiopulmonary injuries, gastro-intestinal injuries, etc.) to the adapted and able-bodied athletes.

Outreach and educating are important aspects of Dr. Roel’s career. He is on the Board of Directors for the Armenian American Sports Medicine Coalition and has travelled to Armenia for multiple medical missions. If he is not in the clinic or working internationally, Dr. Roel is involved in the education and training of future health care professionals as an adjunct faculty, guest lecturer, or clinical instructor for multiple universities in Southern California.

Dr. Roel is a native of Pasadena, California. He enjoys visiting the beaches and mountains of Southern California. He also enjoys being physically active, travelling, and experiencing different foods and cultures.
